Telluride, C.O. in the Summer- Captured in Pictures
You may be curious if visiting Telluride in the summer is worth it. After all, it is a renounced ski destination for travelers worldwide in the winter. However, the snowy mountains transform into a vibrant, green forest filled with mountain bikers, hikers, and climbers in the summer. The 360- mountain view from downtown and impressive waterfall hikes offer a delightful sense of escape and exclusion from the rest of the world. In addition, lodging is slightly more affordable than in the winter months and the snow has usually melted off the roads, making it a lovely summer destination. So, if you have a chance to visit Telluride in the summer, Do It!
Telluride’s Location:
First, Telluride is very remote and located in the southwest part of Colorado. It is a 6-hour and 15-minute drive or just over an hour flight from Denver, C.O. (Googlemaps, 2022). Telluride Regional Airport is a one-runway airport located near downtown that offers charter services, as well as, commercial flights.
Telluride is just over 8,700 feet high, so if you are visiting from sea level, it’s not a bad idea to fly into Denver and stay a night before driving to Telluride to help adjust to the altitude. Whether you are driving the scenic highway or landing on the one-runway airport in Telluride, this is a trip to put on your summer schedule!
